All students who wish admission to Seminario Hispano need to have the recognition and acceptance in an (arch)diocese in the United States. This should be reflected in an appropriate period of vocational discernment with the (arch)diocese and the Director of Vocations.
A communication will be established between the Director of Vocations and the Office of the Rector of Seminario Hispano to initiate the process for admission to the Seminario Hispano.
The respective (arch)diocese, after accompanying the candidate for an adequate period of discernment and giving final approval from the Director of Vocations, will send a letter of acceptance from the (arch)diocesan office to the Rector of Seminario Hispano, indicating that the candidate has been accepted as a seminarian for the (arch)diocese.
Seminario Hispano will send an application packet for admissions to this institution that must be completed by the candidate approved by the Vocation Director. Seminario Hispano will share the information given by the candidate with the Vocation Director of the candidates (arch)diocese.
Once the Vocation Director and Seminario Hispano have received all the required documentation, it is important that both entities approve the candidate, based on information received, so that the candidate can then proceed to begin at Seminario Hispano.
When possible, the Formation Director or the Rector of Seminario Hispano will also interview the candidate before final approval is given for his admission. This can be waved when the situation makes it unrealistic.
The documentation that is required by Seminario Hispano is as follows:
1. General application form and vocation history inventory.
2. Letter of acceptance by the (arch)diocesan Vocation Director containing a statement of intent for the candidate to attend Seminario Hispano.
3. An original birth certificate and two copies.
4. Baptismal certificate.
5. Confirmation certificate.
6. Catholic marriage certificate of parents.
7. Official identification recognized by the Mexican government (electoral card, military card, passport, etc.).
8. Original diploma or certificate of completion for of junior high school (secundaria) and two copies
9. Original diploma or certificate of completion for of senior high school (preparatoria) or a G.E.D. certificate and two copies.
10. Two (2) passport sized photos of the candidate.
11. Psychological evaluation
Seminario Hispano will inform the Vocation Director with sufficient time of the cost for room and board, tuition and medical coverage for the candidate, and make arrangements for timely payment of these costs.
The dates of entry and conclusion of the year and all vacation periods is created in conjunction with the calendar for the Pontifical University of Mexico and the Universidad católica Lumen Gentium. Once a calendar is agreed upon, accepted students will be informed of the date of arrival at Seminario Hispano.
Each academic year runs from the beginning August to final days of May of the following year.
